If I Were a Bag, I Would Want to Be a Handmade Chic Bag of Awesomeness: Funky Diva Designs Giveaway

We love bags, right? Handbags, clutches, wallets, luggage. If it’s pretty and we can put things in it and carry it around, we love it. And we need ten of them, right? That’s what I thought.

When I was going to London for the weekend, I couldn’t just throw my stuff in the five year-old wheelie bag I’ve had since I left Missouri and clunk my way onto the train. I needed something pretty, something new, something which was part of this new era in my life and this new era of the Stay At Home Babe.

Enter the fabulous handmade pretties of Funky Diva Designs. Oh yeah, never in the history of the world has anything been so aptly named. They are funky, they are straight up diva and they are all designed by the gorgeous Anna who is one talented chica. I wanted one of everything.

But, since I was going for the weekend, I got The Weekend Bag. It promised to hold all of my stuff for a weekend and I have to admit that I giggled to myself. There was no way it was holding my copious amounts of crap: I had no idea what I wanted to wear to the conference, so I took three changes of clothes, including hangers. I took a kitchen knife and set of spices to cook supper for my hosts. (Yes, on the train. Yes, I know it’s illegal to take giant knives on the train, whatever.) Plus all the sundries a girl needs to get pretty. I took a separate backpack for all my technology because laptop, kindle, mp3 player, phone and all the chargers really take a bag of their own.

I’m not a pink girl. I’m a purple girl. As I’m sure you noticed. But I am entering a new phase of allowing more pink in my life. I’ve always hated pink just on principle. But that’s dumb. Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but I actually like pink if I’m really honest and not trying to be tough. So, when she said Pick your fabric! and gave me a link to choose WHATEVER fabric I wanted, I was a bit overwhelmed but decided on a pretty soft pink toile… because I’m growing as a person damn it.

She whipped it up with a quickness and shipped it to me and I LOVE IT. No, really. Love it so much that I’ve bought another bag from her that she’s making right now. This bag is made out of oil cloth, which is that heavy-duty-raincoat-faux-leather-type fabric. Which is perfect for me; I tend to spill things. Don’t judge me, I’m too awesome to be dainty.

I lugged this bag around like it was a Mac truck. I beat the crap out of it. I took it on trains and the tube and drug it down the street and threw it on the floor with hardly any regard to treating it gingerly at all. Have I mentioned that I’m not very good at taking care of things? Next time I start complaining about how my son has a penchant for breaking things, remind me that he gets it from me.

My badass new bag took all the hits and still looks brand new. Seriously, not a scuff on it, not a bit of wear at the seams (I packed that thing like it was my belly at Christmas), the zipper closes like butter, I genuinely have nothing but great things to say about this bag. (I mentioned I’ve bought a messenger bag from her, right? )
